What would you highlight about Morgan House Hostel

Good

Very nice location: close to the laguna and center, 15 minutes walk to bus terminal. 30 minutes by bike to Cenote Azul and Cenote Cocalitos. Around 10 minutes by bike to Cenote Negro. Hostel provide water to drink, kitchen to cook. Staff is friendly, speaks only Spanish. Very nice cafe nextdoor with local food and life music.

Kitchen and showers were not really clean, leaking roof in the living. I would not recommend this hostel for people how has difficulties to fall a sleep: hostel has a bar with life music (very nice) nextdoor and it is very noisy until 3:00.

What would you highlight about Morgan House Hostel

basic, chilled out accommodation in a good location with great people

Accommodations are very basic, just a bed in a dorm room and shared showers. But the atmosphere and the people are what make it so special! The place is very laid back, and if you want to feel at home come to Morgan's House and it can be your house too :) Room is open air windows, and you get a fan by your bed as well. Kitchen available for self service. There is a small balcony that no one really takes advantage of, which is a shame because it's nice and breezy and you can look out at the lagoon and chill. Cindy set me up with am amazing and eco friendly catamaran tour of the lagoon, were ready to give advice on where to go and what to see, and even booked a taxi to pick me up when I left. The restaurant/bar next door has a fun vibe and is welcoming.

A couple things to note: - no hot water showers, but the water isn't *cold* and it's quite hot in Mexico so it was refreshing - the bar is open until normal bar hours and it is quite loud in the room. I personally had no problem with either of these, I enjoyed the water temperatures and as far as the noise levels go I can sleep through anything....and if you can't beat them, join them! :) I only put at negative because these are key points a lot of people look for, and if you need quiet and hot water this place may not be for you.

Bacalar my love ️

Cindy (the owner of the hostel) was very nice and helpful, she always know how to figure it out any situation the has lots of friends so even the covid situation was someone in the hostel (like Morgan her dog) to welcome me. Good internet and good vibes.

Dust (im allergic), no air conditioner because of the concept of the hostel, and no breakfast option because Covid.

Good for certain types of people?

The staff was super friendly. The social area had lots of seating, games etc.

There is no wall between the dorm and the bar next door, so the noise level is crazy. No mosquito nets. The showered only has cold water coming out of a faucet (no shower head).

A very enjoyable stay

Lovely hostel that's great value for money. The location is perfect, right next to the lake and the staff were so freindly. Great communal space and terrace! Morgan the bulldog was such an icon of the place and loved the free stickers we got of him!! The bar next door is very livley with some great music..however if you want an early night ear plugs are very helpful!

Dorms in a bar

The staff is super nice, really helpful Thanks for directing me to a mechanic when I had problems with my car

Party hostel with no wall between dorm and bar next door. It’s like you sleep on stage So If you wanna party till 3 in the morning go for it but if you wanna choose your jour of sleep run ‍️

Pleasant

The staff were great, very friendly and helpful. The lady cleaning the rooms and making breakfast was lovely and really smiley.

The bar next door plays live music until 3am every night (except Tuesday) making it very difficult to sleep even with ear plugs.

What would you highlight about Morgan House Hostel

Cool but no sleep until 3am.

The personal is really cool, when I was there, they were artists working in the wall of the hostel, it was a great mood. You can rent bikes, the breakfast is ok (fruits, coffee, tea, bread and marmelade, cereals and milk), and the dorm is cosy.

I couldn’t sleep until 3 because there is no wall betwin the bar next to the hostel and the dorm. And there is a lot of mosquitos in the dorm.

Very Good

It’s basic but has a rustic charm and it’s homely. The owner Cindy is lovely and super helpful and Morgan the dog is cute. Fresh fruit, cereal and toast for breakfast. Very close to public access points to the lake and cheap bike hire. Each bed has its own fan. Really enjoyed it here!

It’s been said before but you are effectively sleeping in a bar and the noise is real...having said that I would still stay again. The hostel is quite new so they are still working on the decor, it’s looking good! Not the best for meeting people if you’re a lone traveller, but the popular (and super expensive) Yak hostel is next door and non-guests are allowed in so you can meet people there :)
